Being a flight attendant, we are obsessed with hand-creams, and L’Occitane is one we probably own a few tubes of if not more! This is one of the main things that actually attracted me to all the possible beautiful hotels in Bali to choose from, in particularly within Ubud – my favourite area on Bali Island. The other main attraction was a private twilight dining inside the infinity pool.

We stayed at this hotel on the very first day of our Bali trip for my birthday, and thinking back I do wish I took more pictures as it was a very photogenic hotel! Unfortunately it rained in the morning so I never took my camera out but I would like to share what I have and hope one of you can go on a sunny day to this hidden little gem above the Ayung River.

This room was a ‘pool villa’, a pool outside on the ground floor, on the same level as lounge and large bathtub inside the bathroom, a spiral staircase  led to the ensuite bedroom upstairs.

The best parts:

A very quiet and private resort, the air was beautifully fresh. Birds singing every early morning. There is golf-cart buggy transportation all around the resort, and the room is made from well polished traditional wooden Bali style architecture, of course the toiletries are L’Occitane! (House keeping actually gave us extras to take home upon asking).

Private twilight dining by the Infinity Pool

Each day, there are two time slots (to choose from 6pm or 9pm), and two menus. You can view the menu and more details here:

We picked this restaurant for my birthday meal,  booking the 1st shift at 6pm to watch sunset, the later one is literally just eating in the dark with candles – you don’t even see the pool, nor your food as there are no lights only candles …(do not recommend, as candles get blown out by wind).

For dinner there is wine pairing with each course, – loved this! You can also dine here for breakfast and lunch.

The colours of the ‘tent’ change, between white yellow and red (I believe this is to do with the event ie. birthday, wedding, honeymoon, but I’m not sure as it was already set up when I arrived at the hotel check-in). Our butler offered to take photos for us, upon each serving course. A very different and romantic dinner indeed!

Location: 6/10

The resort is inside Ubud but it’s quite tucked away on the river side, there isn’t much to see or do nearby without taking a taxi, therefore this hotel is located on a quieter side of Ubud. The hotel does come with an hourly shuttle,  but taxi around Bali is super cheap so it’s not hard to get around at all! The hotel has it’s own restaurants and private dining.

Ubud is definitely my favourite place to stay in Bali, although not the cheapest, it most definitely has all the nicest hotels. Ubud centre has many markets, massage parlours and photo worthy spots such as the Ubud Water Palace, Bali Swing and Tegalanglang rice terraces. There is no beach or port to islands nearby, you’ll have to take a tour/taxi there.

I’d highly recommend staying here if you are not on a tight budget, and want to relax.

Quietness: 10/10

Since the resort is so private and tucked away, you can definitely enjoy your inner peace, yoga classes in the mornings, a river flowing by, and very fresh tropical air. During our dinner, we did not even see a single person walk past!

Hi there! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which
blog platform are you using for this website?
I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve
had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform.
I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
