A stay in the hidden forest of Alila, Ubud

8.4623° S, 115.2404° E

With only 56 rooms in this boutique resort of pure serenity, we were lucky to indulge ourselves with calmness in the resort after long days of chasing sunsets, splashing in waterfalls and brushing through rice fields in the heart of Ubud, the tropical dream!

LOCATION

Sunrise at Tegallalang Rice Terraces

Ubud is my NUMBER 1 location to stay in Bali. There is nothing that takes can beat the traditional jungle vibes yet modern luxury. In Ubud you can find most of the most luxury hotels on the whole island without doubt, the cutest dress boutiques and the most relaxing spas.

Alila Ubud is located a very conveniently 15 minutes away from Ubud centre and located in the quieter areas next to some rice fields above the Ayung River, free parking is included.

You may have seen Tegallalang Rice terraces all over social media, this was only 10 minutes drive away from Alila so we hit it up at 7am! There is also a small Rice terrace just outside the entrance of the hotel!

THE ROOMS

Room type: Valley Villa

The Valley View Villa – as the name calls it, find yourself waking up in a traditional Bali wooden hut valley and tropical jungle views. Extra perk – monkeys come to greet every now and then!

Water surrounding your bathtub for extra peace and serenity whilst sheltered from rain, the perfect way to enjoy your floral Balinese bath!

Terrace Tree Villa

For a cheaper price, you can stay in the Tree-top Terrace Villa. We actually found this a very photogenic room so we also got to stay in here. The bath tub is different and the balcony is larger, we enjoyed having our breakfast in the morning on the balcony with the freshly produced oxygen, you can definitely feel the difference compared to staying inside the city!

HOTEL GROUNDS

Infinity Pool in the morning, at 9am

This super photogenic emerald green pool which looks over the beauty of Ubud, is the perfect place to chill during the afternoon. We found afternoons to be the emptiest.

The Cabana Lounge directly opposite the pool are always happy to offer drinks by the pool when you are feeling a cocktail!

Hotel Reception, simple yet classy
A super polished hotel Lobby

Plantation Restaurant – whether you are feeling Balinese or western, this restaurant serves you both day and night from 7am -10.30pm, with occasional events or performances happening during dinner!

SPA Alila

Alila spa provides all-natural treatments, from their signature locally inspired traditional Balinese Healing Therapy Massage (RECOMMENDED – we also found it super affordable at 60 min IDR 575,000++ | 90 min IDR 765,000++) to Balinese lulur body scrubs. No stay is complete without one of these!
